Global Energy Trading, Golden Island, and PetroChina International, have been successful in a call for applications for methanol bunkering licenses by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The licenses are valid for five years from 1 January 2026. MPA said the three suppliers were selected and were chosen through a “comprehensive evaluation process that assessed supply chain reliability, operational readiness, safety systems, and the sustainability certification of the methanol to be supplied”. Singapore received Expression of Interest (EOI) for methanol bunkering over 50 proposals. The five-year period of the licenses is designed to support early development of methanol bunkering and would give licensees sufficient scope to build capabilities and supply chains.

The Port of Oslo is introducing new incentives to accelerate green shipping and support the city’s climate goals. A bonus–malus system will exempt zero-emission vessels from quay fees, while ships using shore power or achieving strong environmental scores will receive discounts. Vessels that fail to adopt greener options will pay higher charges. Since 2018, the port has invested NOK 225 million in zero-emission infrastructure, including shore-power systems and fast-charging stations, contributing to a 26% reduction in port-related emissions. The port aims to become a zero-emission port by 2030 and a global leader in sustainable maritime transport.

NOCC has named its first LNG dual-fuel pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), NOCC Pacific, built by CIMC Raffles in China. The 7,000-CEU vessel, unveiled on November 14 at Longkou Shipyard, is the first of three ships ordered and marks a key milestone in NOCC’s fleet upgrade and support for greener shipping. Measuring 199.9m by 38m with a service speed of 19 knots, it features dual-fuel engines, two type-C LNG tanks, and delivers zero emissions in port. The vessel carries DNV’s ‘Ammonia-Ready’ and the new ‘EV notation’, making it the world’s first PCTC meeting this electric-vehicle safety standard. It is also the 15th PCTC delivered by CIMC Raffles and the seventh scheduled from Longkou in 2025.

Singapore-based Strategic Marine has delivered two low-emission 40-meter catamaran ferries to the Government of Bermuda ahead of schedule. Designed by One2Three Naval Architects, the vessels mark the first partnership between Bermuda and the Singaporean builder. Each ferry can carry around 550 passengers and is engineered for efficiency, supporting sustainable operations with at least 25% lower CO₂ emissions than existing units. Bermuda’s Transport Minister highlighted their role in advancing national environmental goals and long-term taxpayer savings. The delivery follows technical acceptance in September and aligns with Bermuda’s broader climate strategy, which includes renewable energy expansion, electrification, and green transport initiatives.

Japan has launched Keyaki, a 199-meter eco-friendly ferry built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for JRTT and Shin Nihonkai Ferry. Delivered on November 11 and in service from November 14, it operates between Otaru and Maizuru. The vessel carries 286 passengers, 150 trucks and 30 cars. It is Japan’s first ferry to use a new energy-saving hull with a Katana Bow and ducktail stern, cutting resistance and improving roll stability. These innovations are expected to deliver over 5% energy savings. The launch aligns with Japan’s push to strengthen its shipbuilding sector, supported by a ¥12 billion, five-year consortium project to boost competitiveness, digital transformation and next-generation vessel development.
