The Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association and the Skies and Seas Hydrogen-fuels Accelerator Coalition have partnered to develop and implement green shipping technologies, aiming to support the maritime energy transition. Together, the two coalitions represent 70 companies advocating for policies that support zero emission solutions, which include hydrogen, battery-electric, and wind propulsion technologies. ZESTAs unites shipping companies that are focused on zero-carbon emission technologies. The SASHA Coalition, supported by the climate NGO Opportunity Green, brings together stakeholders from the shipping and aviation sectors to promote policies that favour green hydrogen solutions.

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has opened a methanol bunkering simulator at the Maritime Training Centre in Kochi, India, in collaboration with Wartsila. The goal of this simulator is to provide mariners the abilities and information they need to use methanol as a fuel source responsibly. Early in 2026, a simulation module for ammonia bunkering is scheduled to be implemented. The Wartsila TechSim 5000 simulator, built on the TechSim 9 platform and certified by ClassNK for IGF Code training, comes with a “comprehensive” simulation of methanol fuel systems. The system features dual bunkering stations, real-time tank monitoring, low-pressure pump skids, nitrogen systems, IAS, interactive controls, 3D visualization, emergency shutdown systems, and e-Tutor scenarios for bunkering.

Visakhapatnam Port (VPT) has been ranked among the world's top 20 ports due to strategic modernization and infrastructure upgrades that have improved its operational efficiency. At a Trade Meet in Hyderabad, Mr. N. Sridhar, Principal Commissioner of Customs, Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), announced that the port is now the fastest among Indian ports, with a turnaround time of just 21.4 hours. The port has set a cargo handling target of 90 million tonnes (MT) for FY 2025–26, an increase from the 82.62 MT handled in the previous fiscal year.

Eco Marine Power Co., Ltd. has started evaluation trials for its Aquarius Marine Solar Power system, the first of several photovoltaic (PV) module technologies. The trials, which are expected to last 12 to 18 months, aim to showcase the system's practicality and performance in real maritime conditions. Merlin Solar Technologies Inc.'s solar panels, designed for durability and reliability, are being tested. The panels were fitted to frames previously installed on the ship by Aries Marine. Further equipment will be installed in the coming months, including various PV module technologies from other manufacturers. The trials aim to support the shipping industry's transition to greener operations and sustainability.

Maritime India Vision 2030 envisions Chennai-Kamarajar-Cuddalore cluster to become Mega Port in the eastern coast by 2047. This cluster is targeted to achieve a cargo handling capacity of over 300 million tonnes per annum by the year 2047. Under the Port Modernization pillar of Sagarmala Programme, a total of 234 projects at cost of Rs. 2,91,279Cr. have been undertaken for implementation and out of 234 projects, 104 projects worth Rs. 32,654Cr. have been completed and 55 projects worth Rs. 74,725 Cr. are under implementation. The key initiative of Government includes Port Modernisation of Chennai, Ennore (Kamarajar), and Tuticorin (VO Chidambaranar) ports, and investment in infrastructure connectivity such as rail and road linkages.
